PE: Scanning And Photographing A/M WorksIntroduction
A traditional artist faces a great challenge after finishing an artwork. How do they get it on their computer to upload and show the world?
There are two main options: Scan or Photograph. Both of these come with a horde of challenges and this article is to offer a starting point for the artist to experiment and find the best solution for their art.
There are a number of type of scanners, the most common domestic peripheral being the flat bed scanner. This article focuses on using a flat bed scanner and not a wand or other type of scanner.
First things, the scanning bed must be as clean as possible, clear off dust and pet hairs before attempting to use and make sure the scanner is on a stable surface for scanning. Some scanners will be sensitive to direct sunlight being on the outside, if you find that your artworks get a strange bright spot, do check that section of your scanner isn't being exposed to direct light.
SNIPPY: evidence"Blasted mug!"
I looked at it hatefully.
"This is all your fault!"
I attempted to throw the mug at the Arbitrator, to smash it, to let go of it.
Nothing of the sort was possible.
I flailed left and right. The mug did not budge. I could not let it go, no matter how hard I tried. It was as if it were glued to me with a strange static-like substance. It rolled between my fingers and from one hand to the other, but it was as if I were made of iron and the mug were a powerful rare-earth magnetic bearing coated with oil.
Why can't I let go of the mug?!
Did the Arbitrator's reconstruction of my organs have anything to do with this?
Upon giving up to prying the mug out of my hands, I turned to the Arbitrator and spoke.
I made my case calmly and clearly, pressuring various facts that my DNA couldn't possibly be on the mug and that I looked nothing like Captain and that it might as well scan my memories for evidence or something of that sort.
Happy New Year from deviantART! Taking a look back!
Before we look ahead to the expanse of artistic potential that is the new year, we wanted to look back at some of the amazing things the deviantART community accomplished in 2011. We continue to be humbled, year after year, by the nurturing power of the community home grown by deviants like you. Artists and art enthusiasts of every style you can imagine consider deviantART their home on the Internet for all things creative, and their talent and enthusiasm inspire our community to greater heights than ever thought possible.
Incredible stats from 2011!

WHAT IS DEVIANT DISCOVERY?
Deviant Discovery is a weekly Journal Feature that focuses specifically on Deviants that have good art, but haven't gotten much attention for it. Every week, a new Deviant will be chosen, and a few of their artworks will be show in this Journal, along with a description of the artist themselves. This weekly feature will serve as an attempt to get under-appreciated artists more attention then they already have.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It will work in a similar way to Daily Deviations - either I could select a Deviant myself, or someone could be suggested by another Deviant. Once a Deviant is chosen, we'll find their best five Deviations to be featured in the Journal. Then, we'll give a short description of the artist's work, and a small explanation of why they were chosen. The feature will remain on the front of my page for seven days [168 hours; one week], so that the Deviant can get continuous attention. Suggestions could be s

Challenge 3: Book - Top 5Happy Holiday
I try to give out the result faster than usual since DA is having promotions for premium member subscription. That's why I try to give you the result sooner so you may use your points for it. Though it's not enough but I hope it can help some how .
With a lot of entries therefore it took me while to choose top 5. This time, so many good entries with great concepts. It's really hard for me to pick 5 only.
I don't pick the top 5 base on drawing skills only but also the concept of their entries. But there were more than 20 entries I want to pick as winners :C. But don't worry, we will have more challenges in future.
I am truly sorry for who don't make it, not because you are not good but because we only choose 5 here. As I usually said for challenge, it's not a contest, it likes a little 'push', a little motivation for you to draw (it's also a reason why the prize for top 5 is just little). If you don't make it this time but I believe you earn somet
I'd like to introduce you to a fantastic group and tell you all about it!
dALinkSystem is a Group dedicated to increasing artists exposure, by helping others and themselves through a simple and effective "Linking" system.
"Link another artists submission in your artist's comment box. It helps everyone's exposure and finds undiscovered art."
The Link System was originated by TheFulkrum and myself (Echostar08), in May of 2009. What began with a few "Linkers" has grown into a large "Linkers Community" of caring deviants, who utilize The Link System to help increase their exposure, while helping others.
Linking can be done in as little as 5 minutes. It's simple to do and takes only a little extra time when you're submitting a deviation. The little bit of extra time you spend to personally choose and feature someone else's art in your artist's comment box (or in your deviation description), is ve
Adding Journals to your Featured GalleryCommunity Week
Your featured gallery is the first page that your gallery visitors will see. Most of the time, we tend to display our very best pieces of work there. However, the featured gallery can also be used to showcase some journal entries that you want viewers to see immediately. These may be important announcements, advertisements, etc. It would be great to know this neat little trick of how to make journals show on your featured gallery.
To make sure that we're on the same page (excuse the pun!), this is what the Featured Gallery looks like:
Let's get started!
Step 1: Locate Your Journal
To locate your journal, type the title of the journal on the search bar and click on "Search Art." In this example, I will look for one of my projecteducate entries. Be reminded that you don't have to type the full title, some keywords would do.
Amazing Artworks!Hello all

Gaining Exposure To ArtGaining Exposure For Your Own Art:
Being active on the site is probably the best and most effective way to get yourself and your art seen. Leaving thoughtful comments on others art will often result in them coming to your page to find out more about you and see your art. Being involved and making friends will promt people to focus on you and your art giving you a bit more exposure. Leaving critiques, helping to moderate groups, posting in the forums, or simply chatting it up in the chatrooms. These can all be beneficial in getting you more exposure. Below I'd like to outline some of the wonderful ways, I believe, you can gain extra exposure to your art.
Joining groups which are relevant to your interests and the art which you make can be very helpful in getting your art out there and seen by like minded individuals. The introduction of groups by dA has made it very e
